WHAT'S ON THE LINE!

The water is creeping up into the sixties now and we are waiting on springtime fishing just around the corner! Fishing is slow in the bays right now, but fishing in the Intracoastal Waterway and Gulf County Canal has been good lately. Live shirmp on a jig head will catch all the different species in the canals. Redfish and trout are the main species, but you can also catch black drum, sheepshead, stripers, and hybrid bass. The fishing will really pick up in the weeks to come, so hang in there and we will be loading the boats soon enough! Tightlines, Capt. John.
The Captain’s Tacklebox
- Live shrimp on 1/4 oz. jigheads lightly bounced on the bottom of the canals. Find a time in the day when the tide is moving and slow drift with the current.
- Keep an eye out for bull reds cruising the beaches.
- Pompano are just around the corner from showing up along with the spanish mackeral.
